What are Sunday Classes?

Our Sunday Classes offer semester-based tech education for children aged 8 to 12.

Students usually join us between ages 8 and 10 in the Digital Ninjas course and then advance each semester into the Digital Heroes and eventually the Digital Superheroes course.

This learning pathway allows complete beginners to enter the world of programming step by step, starting with an introduction to the computer world & block programming, following to advanced block programming in Scratch,  and progressing to writing Python code within just a few semesters.

Because the program builds on the skills learned in previous semesters, places in the Digital Heroes and Digital Superheroes levels are reserved for our current students.

  • In the Digital Ninjas course, young explorers learn to code, solve problems, and present their ideas in a fun, hands-on way.

    Students will:

    • Discover basic computer and technology concepts

    • Learn block programming using microcontrollers

    • Explore online safety and digital citizenship through creative activities

    • Develop early problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills

At the end of the semester, students showcase their projects during Demo Day.

Upon successful completion, they advance to the Digital Heroes course.

  • The Digital Heroes course builds on the knowledge gained in the Ninjas course. Here, students deepen their programming skills using Scratch, creating animated stories or their own games.

    Students will learn:

    • Programming concepts: loops, conditions, variables, events

    • Game and story design using Scratch

    • Creative problem-solving and logical thinking

    • Soft skills: teamwork, communication, project planning

    • Digital citizenship: online safety, privacy, responsible tech use

After Demo Day, students are ready to move on to the Digital Super Heroes course.

  • The Digital Superheroes course introduces students to Python, a beginner-friendly text-based programming language. This course helps students transition from block programming to writing real code using Edublocks as a bridge.

    Students will:

    • Strengthen programming fundamentals

    • Create projects using Python

    • Explore libraries such as Turtle and Pygame

    • Improve computational thinking, creativity, and problem-solving

    • Continue developing teamwork, communication, and digital citizenship skills

By the end of the semester, students are confident young coders ready for more advanced challenges.

  • Who can attend?

All children and teenagers aged 8–12. Students usually join us between ages 8 and 10 in the Digital Ninjas course and then advance each semester into the Digital Heroes and eventually the Digital Superheroes course.

    How much does it cost?

All workshops are free of charge.

Where is the Sunday Class held?

All workshops take place onsite (in Neukölln). Location details will be shared in your confirmation email.

    What should students bring?

A water bottle, some snacks, and a curious mind!

Do students need to bring a laptop?

No, all laptops & materials are provided by us.

What if my child is ill?

If your child is unwell, please keep them at home and inform us by email to kids@redi-school.org, ideally 24 hours before the workshop.

Who teaches the ReDI-Kids workshops, and what support can you offer my child?

At ReDI-Kids, our workshops are led by dedicated volunteer tech professionals who teach in an informal, hands-on learning environment. We aim to create a space where every child feels welcome, encouraged, and safe to explore technology and creativity.

We understand that every child is unique, and we’re happy to make reasonable adjustments where possible to support different learning needs. However, as a volunteer-led education program, there are some important limitations:

    • We cannot guarantee 1:1 supervision

    • We are not equipped to provide therapeutic or medical support

    • We must always prioritise the safety and learning of the entire group

To help us assess whether we can support your child in the best way possible, we encourage you to contact us at kids@redi-school.org before applying. This helps us understand your child’s needs and check whether our current resources can offer the right environment for a positive and successful experience.
