Kicking Off ReDI's 13th Career Coaching Program

DK

What do 60 women hope to gain from six months of career coaching? We asked some of them, and their answers are as different as their backgrounds. But they share one ambition: finding their way into the Danish job market.

Valby Kulturhus was buzzing as ReDI kicked off its 13th Career Coaching Program in Copenhagen. For many of the women, it was the first time meeting the volunteer coach who will support them over the next six months.

And what are they hoping for?

“Development.” “Motivation.” “Network.” “Knowledge.”

Some have very specific goals, such as building a professional portfolio or learning how to enter the Danish job market. Others are looking for something less tangible: a good sparring partner, encouragement or simply, as one woman put it, “having someone next to me.”

And then there was one answer that perhaps sums it all up:

“Navigation.”

Knowing the way through

Finding your place in a new job market can be challenging. Qualifications and experience are important, but so is understanding how things work: where to look, whom to approach, how to present your skills and how to find opportunities that may not be immediately visible.

This is where ReDI's volunteer career coaches come in.

They represent different professions, nationalities and backgrounds, but share one important quality: professional experience and a solid understanding of the Danish job market.

They know how to navigate its twists and turns.

Over six months, coaches and coachees work together through conversations, questions, encouragement and practical guidance. For some, the focus may be networking or job applications. For others, it is about building confidence, exploring opportunities or taking the next step in their professional development.

Career coaching is not simply about giving advice. It is about finding a way forward together.

Hundreds of journeys – and counting

Since launching its Career Coaching Program in Copenhagen in 2020 and Aarhus in 2023, ReDI has facilitated around 770 coaching journeys, with a completion rate of almost 95 percent.

This autumn, around 60 more women in Copenhagen are beginning their own journeys, supported by volunteer coaches who generously share their time, knowledge and experience.

Each journey is different. And that is precisely the point.

A huge thank you to all our volunteer coaches for helping make these journeys possible.
