Interview with Manuel Dauma at SupplyOn

ReDI SCHOOL: Manuel Dauma, how did you meet Marzieh, your new ReDI employee?

Manuel: I took part in the HR Summit at ReDI School in November 2020, and there we made the first contact. It was straightforward and uncomplicated to get in contact with students in the online fair — I didn’t expect that, to be honest.

ReDI SCHOOL: Why did you hire Marzieh?

Manuel: We chose to have Marzieh as a new colleague because she was exceptionally motivated, full of enthusiasm, and had relevant work experience. Besides that, her German skills are very good, making it easier to incorporate herself into the company.

ReDI SCHOOL: How were the first weeks/days together?

Manuel: We all still work from home due to the Corona situation. However, I met Marzieh in person just on the first day to hand over the IT Equipment and introduce her to the most important company information and processes. Notwithstanding, my colleagues from her new department are very close in contact with all team members to make the best out of this challenging situation for all of us.

Q&A with ReDI School Graduate, Marzieh

ReDI SCHOOL: Marzieh, why did you start studying at ReDI School?

Marzieh: I had the decision to study computer science and was looking for a university or an online master in informatics. By chance, a friend of mine told me about ReDI School. I think I was fortunate! I found it a great community, and my career change started after joining them.

ReDI SCHOOL: What brought you to your new job?

Marzieh: It was like a journey; learning technical skills at ReDI School and from some online courses, doing a lot of practical exercises and small projects, applying for several job openings, and preparing a good presentation of myself for the job interviews. I Learnt a lot in the process and from the failures, which made me stronger and more experienced to keep applying until I got an offer.

ReDI SCHOOL: How did ReDI support you?

Marzieh: ReDI offers excellent software development courses with professional, experienced, and supportive teachers, which had the primary role in my career transformation. Besides that, they provide lots of informative workshops for many technical skills which are expected in the job market. Moreover, I learned how to prepare myself for the job market and a great deal of soft skills from their workshops, my supportive mentor, and last but not least, ReDI gave me a laptop that was my best friend in the whole learning and applying journey.

ReDI SCHOOL: How was the start of your new job?

Marzieh: The onboarding was well organized, and I quickly familiarized myself with the plan and tools. In the second week, we started working on the current projects. Even though I have the necessary knowledge needed to be a part of the IT team, there is still much to learn to become more proficient. I am very happy to have started my job in a professional and supportive team.

ReDI SCHOOL: What are your career goals for the next years?

Marzieh: I found this career change an important achievement in my professional life. Therefore I would like to deepen my knowledge, improve my communication skills, gain more experience, become proficient, and contribute effectively to the team.

ReDI SCHOOL: Dream big: What do you want to achieve in your career life?

Marzieh: I would like to be a professional person in my field, knowing the current tools, structures and improving them. With my research and academic background, sharing my experience and knowledge with others has always been a significant part of my job, and I would like to continue this process in tech as well. Moreover, I hope to help more people in their IT journey by teaching new IT skills.

Thank you Marzieh and Manuel! Wishing you both all the best in your future endeavors.
