It’s a Match! From Geologist to IT Support Specialist

The virtual ReDI Job Fair led to another successful match between cybersecurity student NGOWARI LEVY-BRAIDE and technology provider Westcon-Comstor. It could only click between a self-taught IT problem solver and a company who always aims to help partners navigate the technology landscape.

From a very young age Ngowari was a keen problem solver and curious IT learner driven to help others. He helped his father navigate the Microsoft Office pack and assisted his sister with her Autocad software issues for her real estate company. However, growing up in the Southern part of Nigeria, where oil is the leading sector, Ngwari was incentivized to pursue geology more than IT. After a B.Ss in Geology and Mining he decided to continue his studies in Germany at the University of Bremen, renowned in this field. 

In Germany while he completed his Masters in Marine Geoscience he decided to finally pursue IT. He took it upon himself to master different softwares, such as CorelDRAW and QGIS, and to complete the Google support specialist course. Ngowari’s motto is to always be ahead of the technology curve, so he made sure to also join different tech-driven online communities and forums, through which he ended up finding, you guessed it, ReDI School! 

Ngowari had identified cybersecurity and cloud computing as new in-demand skills which could complement his arsenal of IT support skills. ReDI in Cyberspace happened to offer cybersecurity for beginners, a first successful match! By joining ReDI he was not only able to gain new IT skills, but he also accessed a network of like-minded employers looking for talents of his caliber, like Westcon-Comstor. The second match took place at the virtual ReDI Job Fair, where global technology provider Westcon-Comstor, was recruiting new IT support talents and got the opportunity to interview Ngowari. 

For Ngowari, Westcon-Comstor, was the logical next step in his professional development, as a global expert company in the technology market. Here, he could continue to grow and learn new hard skills as well as soft skills, like leadership. Working for a technology provider, who gives clients first hand value, enables Ngowari to pursue his passion for problem-solving and helping others harness the potential of IT solutions at an even larger scale.
