ReDI LAB Winter 2025: Real Projects, Real Clients, Real Impact

“So, can you describe one of your past projects?” - For many aspiring tech professionals, this is the moment in a job interview when nerves take over. What if you don’t have real client experience? What if your portfolio is made only of class exercises?

At ReDI, we believe that tech isn’t learned only in the classroom - it’s learned by doing. That’s why we offer our advanced students with ReDI Labs the opportunity to work on real projects with real companies, so they can walk into their next interview confidently and say:

“I helped prototype and develop an AI agent.”
“I was responsible for the UX design of a matching platform.”
“I redesigned and improved a company website.”

And once again, this is exactly what is happening: In October, we kicked off four new ReDI LAB projects, supported by the Department of Labor and Economic Development (RAW) of the City of Munich. This marks the third edition of our collaboration, bringing together Munich-based small and medium-sized businesses with ReDI students and experts.

The result is a true win-win situation:

Our students learn by doing - and build strong portfolio references.
Local businesses move forward in their digital transformation - at no cost.

What is ReDI LAB?

ReDI LAB is our hands-on, project-based learning format for advanced students in Software Development, UI/UX, Product Ownership, and Agentic AI.

Over several months, small interdisciplinary teams work on real challenges presented by local organisations. They are guided by our industry mentors and supported by ReDI School project manager Salim King Osei.

Students gain practical skills that are difficult to teach in theory, including client communication, scoping, prioritization, agile teamwork, product thinking, and the delivery of real outcomes.

This Semester’s Projects

Together with our partner organisations - Helferei, DoWhatYouLoveAcademy, KLAO, and KS Productions - our teams are developing digital solutions that range from modern websites to the conception and implementation of a fully functional AI agent. A big thank you to all partners for your trust and collaboration.

Here’s a look at what each project team is building:

1. Helferei - Building an AI Agent for Self-Employment Support

Many people who want to become self-employed face the same challenge: How do taxes, registration, obligations, and forms actually work?

For Helferei, our students are developing a digital AI agent trained to answer common questions related to self-employment and tax basics. The goal is to provide people with reliable, accessible, and low-threshold guidance - especially those who might otherwise struggle to find clear information.

2. DoWhatYouLoveAcademy - A Matching Platform for Gap-Year Opportunities

Many young people search for meaningful gap-year experiences abroad, while companies offer exciting programs - but the two sides often don’t find each other easily.

For DoWhatYouLoveAcademy, our team is building a matching platform where:

  • Companies can create profiles and publish internship opportunities

  • Students can create profiles and explore open programs

  • Matches can happen efficiently and transparently

A project that connects education, mobility, and digital innovation.

3. KLAO - Designing and Building a Scalable Website for a Social Startup

The social startup KLAO supports people through personalised counselling and social services. To increase visibility and accessibility, KLAO needs a website that:

  • Communicates the mission clearly

  • Looks professional and trustworthy

  • Is easy to maintain

  • Can grow with the organisation

Our team is responsible for both the UX design and the technical implementation, creating a sustainable digital home for KLAO.

4. KS Productions - Improving and Developing a More User-Friendly Website

The media startup KS Productions wants to strengthen and professionalise its online presence.

Our students are enhancing the existing website to make it:

  • More aligned with the company’s brand

  • More intuitive for users

  • More supportive of, and aligned with, the business goals

  • Visually appealing and clearer in structure

A practical project that combines branding, design, and development.

A Semester of Learning, Collaboration, and Digital Growth

Across these four projects, our students develop skills that go far beyond technical knowledge:

  • Working with real clients

  • Thinking in terms of user needs and business goals

  • Prioritising and making decisions

  • Collaborating in cross-functional teams

  • Building confidence through real results

Supported by our industry mentors, the teams work from October to February - turning classroom learning into real professional experience.
