ReDI Career Track: User-Centered Design

Course Overview

This course will deepen your understanding of UX and UI design in a more practical sense. You will have the opportunity to start building a portfolio and develop a story to showcase your skills and projects.

This is the intermediate course in our Web Design Track.

    • Design Research

    • Prob Definition / Customer Journey

    • Figma practice

    • Info Architecture / Wireframing

    • Visual Design / Layouting

    • Design Ethics

    • User Testing

    • Work on a project during the semester

    • Job Readiness: Soft skills through career trainings geared towards preparing you for job applications & interviews, networking events and job fairs.

    • You will learn from experts in the industry to start a career in tech.

    • You know how to work with Figma

    • You have a good understanding of UX/UI fundamentals or completed the ReDI course UX/UI Design Basics.

    • You are open-minded in showing your design work and getting feedback.

    • You can commit at least 10 hours a week (classes + self-study), 80% attendance of the course is required for graduation.

    • You can commit at least 8 hours for career workshops or trainings during the semester.

    • You are able to understand and speak English.

    • Complete the Figma tutorial (4 parts):

    • Explore ideas

    • Create designs

    • Build prototypes

    • Prepare for handoff

      Please bring your design work examples on the day of the interview.

    • You have gone through the phases of defining the problem, employing various tools and skills in then developing a testable prototype.

    • You have extended your knowledge of color theory by using the colors in a small design system leading to high fidelity and interactive prototypes.

    • You have a more mature portfolio to showcase your skills and abilities.

    • Career & Soft Skills Workshops, Company Visits

    • ReDI Mentorship Program (mentors in the IT industry)

    • ReDI Talent Pool (job listing platform)

    • SkillBuild Self-paced learning (by IBM & ReDI School)

    • You should expect to spend a minimum of 8 hours for career workshops or trainings during the semester.
